Set up Public Holidays in the Calendar

Modified on Sun, 23 Oct, 2022 at 3:39 PM

When you have created a service item, you can set up rules that will automatically change the price or staff pay whenever the service is scheduled on public holidays. The first step is to add as many public holidays to your calendar as you wish where you would like to change the price, usually an uplift or surcharge to the standard price.

What is a service item?

A Service Item is a description and price for a service you provide, such as dog walk, pet sit, boarding, overnight, dog training, etc. Service items create your Schedule, Service Orders, and Invoices. A Service Item that is set for a time and date is assigned to a staff member to create the schedule.

Tip: Once you've added your public holidays to the calendar, you might want to:
  • Charge clients a higher rate for services scheduled on holidays or other dates such as the day before or after a public holiday. See setting Price Rules.
  • Pay staff a higher rate for services delivered on holidays or other dates such as the day before or after a public holiday. See setting Staff Pay Rules.

How Do I Add a Public Holiday to My Calendar?

Navigation: Admin > Services > Public Holidays
  • Click days to mark as public holidays or special dates in the calendar (selected days will be highlighted in yellow).
  • If you wish to remove a date, click it again to "un-highlight" it.
  • Click "Update."

Note: All Price or Staff Pay Rules that relate to a public holidays will now be updated. Services previously scheduled on these dates will NOT be automatically updated, they will need to be updated manually.
